What is Shuttle?

Shuttle is a next-generation, private market investment platform built specifically for busy professionals

Introduction to Shuttle and its mission

Shuttle allows you to invest in exclusive venture capital opportunities - a world typically reserved for the ultra-wealthy. We’re authorised and regulated by the Central Bank of Ireland and our mission is to create simple and unintimidating access to investment opportunities once reserved for the ultra-wealthy. Venture capital has become an increasingly attractive option for investors seeking higher returns, greater diversification and less volatility. Unfortunately, most people don’t have the time, knowledge, network, or net worth to successfully invest in this space. Shuttle removes these barriers, enabling you to grow your wealth by unlocking a world you once thought out of reach.

Why we’re building Shuttle

In a world where a person's ability to achieve financial freedom is constantly overshadowed by unaffordable housing, job insecurity and inadequate retirement plans, millions of people are now regularly investing to secure their financial futures. With the rise of accessible investment apps, investing is no longer exclusive to the wealthy; it’s become part of mainstream culture. However, as investors become more sophisticated and their expectations rise, investment platforms offering publicly traded stocks have started to feel crowded and overly complex, offering clunky user experiences and excessive jargon, with minimal differentiation. This plateau in innovation has led to a surge in interest in venture capital, where returns often outpace publicly available opportunities. Today, retail investors account for 50% of global wealth and are expected to triple their investment into private market assets (venture capital, private equity, real estate, private credit etc.) from $4 to $13 trillion over the next 10 years. Yet, barriers like closed networks, regulatory constraints, and high investment thresholds keep private market opportunities exclusive to the ultra-wealthy. Shuttle is changing this by leveraging new regulations and our technology to expand access to these high-potential investments, bridging the gap between private market possibilities and retail investors.

Redefining Access to Private Market Opportunities

There are countless reports online covering the oncoming retail investor era. And the biggest asset managers in the world have started creating more products aimed at retail investors. Yet despite significant demand, these financial institutions continue to focus only on high-net-worth investors, the upper segment of the retail investor category, overlooking the majority of the market and leaving them unserved Millions of retail investors are eager to diversify into private markets but are excluded due to barriers like accreditation rules, inaccessible networks, and unaffordable minimums. Shuttle is more than just an investment platform; it’s a platform for forward-thinking, busy professionals who seek a well-rounded portfolio. It’s an opportunity to join an exclusive community in a world that you’ve been led to believe isn’t for you. To get access to opportunities that have historically been reserved for the ultra-wealthy. We’re building a platform for people like us - people looking to build wealth by investing in uncorrelated, high-yielding asset classes. Asset classes that have historically been out of reach for us. Shuttle opens doors that were previously closed. If that sounds familiar, please know that we built Shuttle for you!

Why venture capital

Venture capital (VC) is gaining popularity among retail investors, offering unique opportunities to invest in high-growth, early-stage companies that could become tomorrow’s market leaders. Many of today’s most transformative businesses began their journeys with VC funding. However, a problem which has persisted since venture capital's infancy is that the vast majority of us remain excluded from these opportunities. Investing early in successful startups can deliver substantial returns, making the uncapped upside particularly appealing. That said, venture capital is a high-risk, high-reward, where many startups ultimately fail, and your invested capital is often locked up for years. Despite these challenges, a well-diversified VC portfolio can significantly enhance an overall investment strategy, providing the potential for outsized returns while complementing traditional asset classes. Beyond financial gains, it also offers investors the chance to support innovation and actively contribute to the growth of the next generation of transformative companies.

Our Founders and their vision

Shuttle was born from a 20+ year friendship and nearly a decade of shared public market investments experience. With a background spanning sales in big tech, working with venture capital backed startups and scaleups across the UK, and leading software engineering teams, building consumer products for the world's biggest brands, we’ve spent years navigating the tech space. During that time, we began making decisions to build our personal wealth by investing in various assets - company stock options, managed funds, individual stocks and cryptocurrencies. Despite this, we continually felt the pull of private markets but quickly realised those opportunities were out of reach for investors like us, leaving us frustrated. And if that’s how we felt, we knew others would feel the same. We surveyed hundreds of busy professionals working in the tech industry. We focused on people with a similar profile to us - aged 25-45, earning €75k-€300k annually, who invest in public markets but lack the time, knowledge, network, or net worth that’s needed for access to private markets. The response was clear: 86% wanted to invest in private companies; 90% would invest in a VC fund; 94% understood illiquidity; and 90% would use Shuttle. This validation drove us to get authorised by the Central Bank of Ireland and to build Shuttle - a platform that tackles the obstacles of time, knowledge, network, and net worth for investors. We don’t come from a financial services background so we haven’t approached the problem we’re solving from the perspective of someone who’s spent years in the space, whose thinking has been institutionalised, and whose experience is moulded by the status quo. Instead, we’re approaching it as the customer; building the platform we wished was available to us many years ago. As they say, it’s easy to think outside the box when you’ve never been in it! We’ve since built a strong network and team capable of making Shuttle a category defining investment platform, acting as a gateway to opportunities once reserved for the ultra-wealthy. And our vision is a simple one - inspire a generation to build their financial future.
